Willoughby

Our Willoughby project originally consisted of a small workers cottage lead by a dark hallway leading into a spatially compromised living/kitchen area. Through careful design by Attere Arch, the clients brief was to incorporate a subtle insertion of a contemporary addition, whilst still blending into the suburban surroundings. “We set out to create a home that would sustain joy for its occupants. Not only competently meeting the requirements of a functional brief, or meeting sustainability goals but offering the sometimes intangible benefits of architecture - space that invigorates, heals and supports.”

As you reach the end of the existing hallway a floor to ceiling cavity slider fuels the transition of old to new addition. A generous living space was added to work with highlight windows capturing light to create a huge sense of space. Through considered and measured insertions the Kitchen combines a clean and linear approach whilst emphasising flexibility and functionality.
